Workflow & Equipment
Gary is using the latest digital cameras and a vast set of high end lenses to get the best technical quality. Good equipment many photographers can have but it is his gift to find the best angles/perspectives of each location. Only the combination of this two make an image truly perfect.
Images are always taken from a tripod and the camera is connected to a computer. Which ensures to have a large preview of the scene and he and his stylist, if with on the shoot, can arrange everything to perfection. Depending on the image and the brand guidelines either one – two strobes or tungsten lights are being used. The style of the images and desires of luxury hotels changed over the last years more towards natural appearance of the images. Which doesn’t mean no use of extra light, but in a very dedicated and subtle way in order to enhance the picture but still looking natural. Similar is the approach with retouching. Brands tendency is to keep them a bit more natural as renderings got better and they don’t want to have their images looking like a rendering. Gary Schmid and his team can adopt to each style and give advice to clients not so settled or supported from clear brand guidelines.
Gary has many years long returning clients, they value his photographical and personal values. A photographer who is a team player, flexible and able to improvise to get the image needed in the quality expected. His photography is well known for passion & expertise which guarantees to showcase every property in a unique balance of art and communication.
